Canadian Dental Care Plan for Seniors and Children

Overview

The Canadian Dental Care Plan aims to ensure that all seniors and children have access to high-quality dental care, regardless of their financial situation. This initiative reflects the commitment to improving oral health and overall well-being among these vulnerable groups.

Who Is Eligible?

Seniors

  • Age Requirement: Canadian seniors aged 65 and older.

  • Income Considerations: The plan targets low- to moderate-income seniors, with specific income thresholds determining eligibility for full or partial benefits.

Children

  • Age Requirement: Children under the age of 18.

  • Income Considerations: The plan is primarily aimed at families with low- to moderate-income levels, but some provinces may offer coverage based on different criteria.

Benefits Covered

  • Routine Exams: Includes regular check-ups and cleanings.

  • Preventive Care: Coverage for fluoride treatments and dental sealants.

  • Restorative Procedures: Includes fillings, and root canals (crowns and dentures will become an available benefit in November 2024)

How to Apply

  1. Check Eligibility: Review the eligibility criteria based on age and income. 

  2. Gather Documents: Prepare necessary documents, such as proof of income and age.

  4. Receive Confirmation: Once your application is processed, you will receive confirmation of your coverage and instructions on how to access services.

Accessing Services

  • Scheduling Appointments: Contact participating dental offices directly to schedule appointments. Make sure to inform them of your coverage.

  • Payment: Most covered services will be billed directly to the plan, but some services may require co-payments.

  • Coverage Limitations: Some services may have limits or require pre-approval. Our admin team can help you understand what this plan covers.
